You would have to go as far back as the Mike Vick days to find major success for the Virginia Tech football program. Vick led the charge, and the program had a good run on the recruiting front in the years following his departure.
However, the team had faced a lot of failure from 2012-2015 until Justin Fuente was named the team's new head coach after the legendary Frank Beamer left. The team has had solid back-to-back seasons, and they promoted Galen Scott to assistant coach to reward his contributions to the team.
