On Monday night, we saw a rare great moment in bunting when the St. Louis Cardinals’ Matt Carpenter beat the Miami Marlins’ shift with a bunt double. Less than 24 hours later, a reminder came that bunting usually doesn’t result in fun things, and it was a very painful reminder for Max Scherzer.
It didn’t even happen during a game, either. The Washington Nationals’ ace was working on bunting during batting practice Tuesday, and bunted a ball off his own face.
