Good Morning America host and Pro Football Hall of Famer Michael Strahan announced the birth of his first grandchild, a boy named Onyx, Tuesday (September 24) morning.

"It is amazing, my daughter, Tanita, had a little baby boy, Onyx, on Sunday morning, 2:30 a.m. and "I am so excited. I'm so happy. A great addition to the family," Strahan told GMA co-hosts Robin Roberts and George Stephanopoulos.

Tanita, 32, is Strahan's oldest of four children, who he shares with his first wife, Wanda Hutchins, along with his only son, Michael Strahan Jr. Tanita, who was born in Germany, is an illustrator based in Los Angeles, according to her Instagram profile.

Strahan previously shared a tribute to his daughter on Instagram for her birthday in November 2022, which included a photo of him holding her as a baby and another posing alongside her as an adult.

"Happy birthday to my first born @tanitaa.st 🎉🎊 🍾Please help me wish her the most amazing day. So proud of the person and artist you have become my baby. Proud to be your Dad❤️❤️❤️❤️," Strahan wrote.

Onyx's birth comes months after Strahan's youngest daughter, Isabella, announced she was cancer-free in July after being diagnosed with medulloblastoma, a type of brain tumor in January.
