Former MasterChef México contestant and influencer Yanin Campos died at the age of 38 following a car crash this past weekend, authorities told the local newspaper El Financiero (h/t the New York Post).

Campos, who placed sixth on the reality cooking competition show in 2018, was driving an SUV in Chihuahua, Mexico, at around 6:30 a.m. local time on Saturday (August 2) when she lost control and crashed into a parked car, Mexican Secretariat of Public Security officials confirmed to the newspaper. The chef was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead two days later, according to authorities who are continuing to investigate whether speed was a factor in the deadly accident.

Campos' brother, Raúl, confirmed her death in a post shared on Facebook.

“To family and friends. We inform and mourn the death of my sister Yanin Campos,” he wrote, providing details about when her wake was scheduled.

Campos also appeared on MasterChef: Mexico: La Revancha -- which means "the revenge" in English, prior to shifting to a career as an influencer. The 38-year-old had more than 100,000 followers on her TikTok account in which she shared lifestyle-centric content at the time of her death.

Campos' last post was shared five days ago with a translated caption that states, "Never let the incognito fans run out because they help with the views."
