This holiday season Opportunity on Deck is partnering with The Andrew Giving Fund and Waukee’s Aspiring Professional Experience to host a holiday event to support children and families in need throughout central Iowa.
The MVP celebration will honor up to fifty deserving youth athletes by giving each a holiday gift package and allowing their families to enjoy games, activities and food on December 14th from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at South Middle School in Waukee.
Nominations are currently being accepted for elementary-aged children who would appreciate a sports holiday gift package, which includes an Opportunity on Deck jersey, a pair of shoes or cleats, some fun prizes, a scholarship/invite to participate in an upcoming sports league and the sports equipment of the child’s sport of choice.
“Our goal is to provide more joy to the children we work with and children who haven’t heard of Opportunity on Deck and could benefit from our programs” said Opportunity on Deck executive director Dylan DeClerck. “Our hope is that the youth receiving these holiday packages will use the equipment and instruction provided to enjoy their favorite sport for years to come, without their families having to spend tons of money this holiday season.”

About Opportunity on Deck Founded by Dylan DeClerck, Opportunity on Deck has served more than 2,900 central Iowa youth at no-cost to the participants and their families. A majority of the participants have been involved in the organization’s seasonal sports leagues (including basketball, baseball, soccer, dance, and more) and sports camps that operate on a year-round basis. Additionally, Opportunity on Deck has added an equipment distribution program, college visits, special experience, and holiday gift outreach packages. Our goal is to set the youth up to succeed in the future, by college visits, and special experiences, to make sure we are supporting our participants beyond just our programs.
