The final College Football Playoff rankings were released over the weekend, and Doug thinks Notre Dame has been unfairly excluded from the opportunity to compete for the National Championship. The real issue is that there is no way to keep the process completely fair to all “deserving” teams and still include the 12 “best” teams. It’s either one or the other and Notre Dame got stuck in between.
Doug Gottlieb: “It’s an unfair sport…So we’re trying to make it fair by putting JMU (James Madison University) in there, and by putting Tulane in there? It doesn’t make any sense. It is actually unfair to the idea of: we’re trying to find the 12 best teams. Either try and find the 12 best teams or make if fair…and if you make it fair, you’re not going to have the 12 best teams, which is what you have here.”
