CALEB: Christmas Is Only The Fifth Best Holiday. Don't @ Me

For the Freaky Friday 5's, we're talking Top 5 holidays. And HOLY SMOKES...let's get after it with my controversial list.

5. Christmas

Alright, I understand that this is a popular pick for number one, and can be seen as blasphemous for placing Christmas at such a low position. But hear me out. There are certainly factors and aspects of Christmas that make it superior to most holidays. The warm cozy feelings, the decorating, the presents, are all part of Christmas that you just can’t find in any other holiday. The reason why I placed it last in this list is because of the insurmountable and crippling stress that comes along with the celebrations. Christmas, without a shadow of a doubt, is the most expensive holiday of the year. According to (explodingtopics.com) the average cost of Christmas for the average American is $997.3. This includes gifts, parties, and decorations. Don’t get me wrong, Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year, but it is also the most expensive time of the year.

4. Super Bowl

There can be an argument to make as to whether this is a holiday or not. But come on. Be real with yourself and admit that any event where EVERYONE across the country gathers together to drink beer, eat chip dip, and watch football is, without a shadow of doubt, a holiday. What makes this holiday so great is the simplicity of it. You have three main objectives when watching the Super Bowl, and that is drink as much beer as possible, make fun of the halftime show, and take work off the next day. What's not to not love about that???

3. Halloween

Halloween is quite possibly the oldest, most ancient holiday recognized in our country. I love Halloween for all the same reasons everyone else does; candy, parties, dressing up. But what makes this holiday even more interesting is the rich history of Halloween, with its roots reaching back thousands of years. The celts, 2000 years ago, would have a celebration called Samhain. Celtic people would dress up and dance around giant bonfires to ward off evil spirits. This is the widely accepted origin of Halloween and I don’t think it gets spookier than that.

2. Saint Patrick's Day

McDonald's Shamrock Shake. 'Nuff said.

1. Thanksgiving

If you could combine Labor Day, Christmas without the price tag, and the Super Bowl all together you would get Thanksgiving. I cannot stress enough about how perfect this holiday is. It is a day where families get together and eat food, drink wine, and watch football. You essentially have a five day weekend depending on your job, and you do not need to spend hundreds of dollars on presents. This holiday essentially represents everything that I appreciate in life and that makes it, unequivocally, the greatest holiday recognized in America.
