Former Rams HC Jeff Fisher Discusses Jared Goff's Disastrous Rookie Season

Los Angeles Rams Introduce Jared Goff
Colin Cowherd: “With the Jared Goff situation, you had you and Gregg Williams – DEFENSE – and you had Goff when they world was changing. You can make the argument the Rams needed an OFFENSIVE guy. In the end in Los Angeles did you worry about having a young quarterback, and the league changing, and that you were more of a defensive guy?”
Jeff Fisher: “I take responsibility for our ineptness over that period of time… We brought Jared on at a very, very, very slow pace. I wasn’t thinking about Jeff Fisher, I was thinking about what was best for Jared Goff. We didn’t start him for 6 or 8 weeks and just brought him along slow thinking about what’s in the best interests of his future. And then obviously Sean McVay comes in and takes it and runs with it and does a great job. I’m not at all surprised by his development.” (FULL Audio at Bottom of Page)

Listen to Colin Cowherd's interview with former Los Angeles Rams head coach Jeff Fisher, as Fisher talks about the botched rookie season of current Pro Bowl starter Jared Goff.

After being the first overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, Goff had one of the worst seasons in NFL history for a no. 1 overall pick, going 0-7 in seven starts, and only attaining an 18.6 QBR, with five touchdowns, seven interceptions, and a 54.6 completion percentage.

Under new head coach Sean McVay, Goff would become one of the best quarterbacks in the NFC, going a combined 24-7 in two Pro Bowl seasons with a 60-19 TD/INT ratio.

Check out the interview below as Fisher details his experience with a then-22-year-old rookie Goff.
