How Nebraska Landed Parker Wildeman's Son, Tate

A Penalty Box caller alerted us there may have been a big blunder in the recruitment of former player and coach Parker Wildeman's son, Tate.  The 6"6", 245 pound defensive end/linebacker had numerous offers from Power 5 schools, none of which were the Iowa Hawkeyes.

The caller alleges that Parker Wildeman tried to get his son on Iowa's radar, to no avail.  A call was made to a former National I Club president to start rattling cages.  When Iowa finally called Tate Wildeman, they said "You live in Denver, why the interest in the University of Iowa?  Do you know somebody who went there?" Parker Wildeman was a team captain at Iowa and coached under Hayden Fry.  Tate's mom went to medical school at Iowa.

Sure, NE defensive coordinator Bobby Diaco is also a former Hawkeye and a family friend.  But still, if Tate Wildeman really wasn't on Iowa's radar until the 11th hour, this isn't a great story to have floating around out there.
