It's official! The city of Urbandale and other officials broke ground to turn the old Younkers location at Merle Hay Mall into the new home of the USHL Des Moines Buccaneers, with the team hoping to move in to its new home to start the 2023-34 season. In addition to the new arean for the Bucs, the location will also have three sheets of ice for youth hockey/skating, a hotel, and a renovated pedestrian corridor. Exciting news for not only hockey fans, but everyone who remembers Merle Hay Mall as a hub of activity!
